Services Are Not Responding

Hello,

I have attempted to uninstall my Bitdefender 2011 (which appeared successful except for a step about "executing additional tools" or something like that). After the uninstall was finished, I then installed Bitdefender 2013.

Now I am receiving the above mentioned "Bitdefender Security Services are not responding".

My computer is using Windows Vista Home Premium and has SP2 installed.

It is a 64 bit OS.

Looking forward to your response!

Thanks,

Chad

    I am also having the same problem with Bitdefender Antivirus Plus 2013. I restarted my computer to install updates and got the same message when Bitdefender tried to start up. So I did as it said and restarted my computer again, but that didn't help anything. So i am at a loss as well. I opened a support ticket concerning this problem 20 minutes before writing this reply. Perhaps if you have not already, go to the "support/contact us" and choose the online chat option and do so as well.

    This is also after I tried to install Bitdefender Antivirus Plus 2013 but it said that it could not automatically uninstall Microsoft Security Essentials. The problem is, is that I had uninstalled MSE correctly before i even downloaded the installer. So I download MSE again, and uninstalled it again. After that, I ran a scan for leftover's in my registry and it found nothing. I then manually checked my registry and could not find any trace of it whatsoever. So then i tried to install Bitdefender again and it had the same problem. I restarted, did a system clean, and a registry defrag all to no avail. Still continued to tell me that it couldn't uninstall MSE automatically and to do it manually and try again. I opened a ticket and they sent me the "Log Tool". I sent them my results but they did not confirm that they had received it. So after two or three days I emailed them about the status of my ticket and no reply. So i came home one day and got on the computer and randomly tried the installer again. It worked and installed the program just fine. I did not restart my computer since my initial problems with it. It just fixed itself. No idea how. So i contacted them and told them what i explained here and that they could close the ticket. From the time i emailed them the log report, to the day it fixed itself was 6 days. They had not contacted me in 6 days. All the time I had no protection for my computer.

    I finally installed it four days ago. That is one week from when i initially purchased it and tried installing it for the first time. So for this to happen four days into me having the product really makes me upset. I want the best protection for my computer so i will continue to struggle with it until everything gets resolved, and i am confident that it will be. But all this trouble from a top rated company and product is just downright ridiculous. I will most likely be seeking some type of compensation in the form of perhaps a free computer coverage, refund/free copy of my product, free upgrade to Bitdefender Internet Security 2013 etc. etc.. I usually never seek compensation for matters such as these. I understand that software can have their problems as well as the companies that put them out, but there is absolutely no reason in my mind to have these type of problems so close together and so early on. Especially from Bitdefender, the top rated product, and company, and reputation in its field.

    I realize this is a long reply and i apologize haha. I am just rather upset about the overall situation I'm having and i wanted to vent to someone other than the tech support guy I was chatting with earlier.

    Chad, if you get any information or answers from outside this thread could you let me know please? I will do the same.

    Any and all help would be greatly appreciated everyone!

    Thanks!

    Andrew

  • Hi :)

    In order to be able to properly identify the causes for the reported situation and find a solution we will need to investigate a bit deeper.

    Please follow the steps below and send us the result:

    a ) Go to this page

    b ) Extract the contents of the downloaded file and run the 'autoruns.exe' file;

    c ) Wait for the list to be filled with all the processes and then make sure that you have the Everything tab selected in the upper part;

    d ) Click on the Disk icon right under File and chose any location folder on your computer;

    e ) Save the file with a specific name (your name, computer name, a random name, which one you want) and then send me a PM with it.

  • I have all the same problems. Services don't respond, chkdsk won't run, AND rebit can't see the backup server. Uninstalled Internet Security 2013, reinstalled Internet Security 2012. All is good. This is obviously a bitdefender issue and hopefully they will fix it. Meanwhile, 2012 has been good to me so I'll stick with it while I can.

  • Hello :)

    A product update was released. Your build should be 16.23.0.1637(please right click on Bitdefender icon from system tray-near the clock-and choose "About". You should see in the left side the build number).

    In order for the product update to be installed, you need to reboot your machine(you should see in the Events -> "Reboot required" under the Update module).

    Changelog:

    Let me know if the situation is solved.

    Have a nice day.
