I Want To Be Paranoid!

I really don't understand why paranoid settings are forgotten (even in new build).

Some examples:

- I set FW like this:

Now, If I unplug my PC and go on Laptop Mode, this is what I get:

This happens on my 3 PC (W7, 32 and 64 bits), so it seems to be a general behaviour, but the user guide just states:

"When Bitdefender operates in Laptop Mode, the Autoscan, Auto Update and Auto Sync features are turned off"

Moreover, on my new Samsung 7 W7 64 bits, when I reboot Paranoid Mode is On, but advanced settings are forgotten:

Why is BD so paranoid about paranoid mode????

Comments

  • This is FAD i.e. function as designed as they consume more resources when the Laptop is on batteries. However I also can't fully understand why Paranoid Mode is disabled.

Ok, I may understand that, but my initial user mode fw settimgs should be restored once you exit from laptop mode, in my opinion, otherway every time one must set them again.

    Hello Max :)

What you are saying in the last post was not implemented in the product from the beginning and is not that easy to implement it right now.

We are working to make the product remember all the temporary states.

Basically there are several scenarios that involve Auto Pilot, User Mode, Game Mode and Laptop Mode and all the combinations between them.

I did notify our developers about this, and right now I can not provide you an ETA for this.

    Thank you!

Thanks a lot, no problem, I can wait (as long as I know what's going on with BD), at least I gave you guys something to work on

  • I agree that if the Mode is switched back, the settings should restored. e.g if set Paranoid Mode and Automatic Laptop Mode to ON, and when the Laptop Mode becomes active, the Paranoid Mode turned OFF. And when I plug-in the power again into the Laptop, thee Laptop Mode becomes inactive and the Paranoid Mode should turned ON again automatically, but at present I've to set it ON manually everytime.

    Hello,

My opinion is that "Paranoid" mode MUST NOT be turned off (automatically) for ANY reason or else it's dangerous.

You cannot sacrifice security and privacy for power saving reasons.

Yeah this was not happening at least for me until the last big update... and like the other person said this MUST not HAPPEN! Is a great security problem! Any program like an antivirus or Firewall should not change your settings by any reason because we depend on it to work to protect our documents, bank accounts and privacy. I am in charge of the company's computers and network and i often test many new software and i depend on the firewall. If i suspect something might send information to somewhere and is an undetectable new trojan and i thought the fwall check was on and was not then i am doomed. Also i test many gaming software and in this community is full of trojans since people come to the cyber cafe to play and come with issues to me.

Did this issue was fixed in todays Product update? Because it is making the same sh*t!

  • Indeed, I see applications get access to the Internet without authorization from me just because laptop mode disables the paranoid mode setting.

BitDefender dev, what the ###### are you thinking!!

  • Hello :)

This issue is related to this behavior:

    http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?sho...st&p=163602

When that situation will be fixed, all the statuses will be saved and the product will remember all the temporary statuses.

I will let you know when the update will be released.

    Thank you!
