Bdis 2013- Downloder.exe & Vsserv.exe

I am using BDIS 2013 build 16.20.0.1483

still i am facing the same issues of BDIS 2012 as under

1. downloader.exe :- Every one hour or so this exe file is using up almost half of my bandwidth of 256 Kbps - i suppose still the p2p updates are allowed in BDIS 2013

2. vsserv.exe - i do not know what this exe file does but every time i start dowloading form the internet this particular exe file also get connected to some server in the USA and slows down my download speeds.

i upgraded to BDIS 2013 thinking these issues would have been resolved but i could not find any difference.

In fact even though i have more than 200 days of licence remaing i am thinking of installing some other internet security.

Any suggestions from other members will be highly appreciated

  • Hello :)

    Welcome to the forums!

downloader.exe is used by the Update module to download the hourly definitions updates.

vsserv.exe is the main core of our product and is also used to communicate with the cloud servers

A product update was released. Your build should be 16.21.0.1504(please right click on Bitdefender icon from system tray-near the clock-and choose "About". You should see in the left side the build number).

In order for the product update to be installed, you need to reboot your machine(you should see in the Events -> "Reboot required" under the Update module).

Let me know if the situation is solved.

I have build 16.28.0.178 installed on my Win XP computer. I have the same issue with both downloader.exe and vsserv.exe basically taking over my system. I just installed your product in Feb 2013 after switching from a competitor based on reviews of BitDefender.

I have been dissappointed in the product since almost day 1. After reading this post I am seriously considering uninstalling and using another product.

However, if you have a suggestion to make your product work so I can actually USE my system, I will review.

    Thanks - Tom
