Tuneup - Duplicate Finder
Hi,
I've tried running Duplicate Finder about 5 or 6 times over the past few weeks, and it runs for a while and then I get a message that Bit Defender has to close.
Is there a fix I can upload so as to address this?
Thanks!
Marcia

Hello Marcia,
I've used the Duplicate Finder a few times, but I never had this error.
How many folders did you set BitDefender to scan for duplicates? It might be that there are too many folders (and/or files) and BitDefender crashes because of this. Try to scan fewer folders/files and see if you get the same crash.

Dear Marcia,
This is an important warning. Use the duplicate folder only in 1 folder because otherwise you would have problems with program that don't work anymore because many programs use a file with the same name but in a different folder. And the duplicate finder will mark them. Can you please do this go to start, right click on my computer choose properties, click on the advanced tab, choose startup and recovery settings, click on settings, select the option minidump press on apply and ok. When the error appears again do not send the error report to microsoft. But copy the sended files you can do this by going to start, run, type at the run dialog box %SystemRoot%\Minidump press enter copy that file by selecting it and press the ctrl (control button) together with c. Now go to your windows desktop and press ctrl+v (control button together with v). Upload that file at your next post. To do that once you are in the screen to write a reply go to the attachments section press on browse now navigate to your desktop and select the minidumpfile press on open and on upload.
Best regards

Oh, I hope not.
Surely, duplicate finder compares file size as well as name? No? Sounds like I've trashed a bunch of files ....0
