    Hello Rin2,

What kind of improvement do you expect to get with this function?

The priority is that each of us at all times, to be "up to date".

It is an essential element of any real time protection.

I'm afraid that this function would not be able to provide it.

Silent update is completely unobtrusive and does not take a lot of resources but it will our machines always keep a safe.

At any time, you can use "prompt before downloading", "promt before installing" at the end you can use "weekly.exe" and every Friday afternoon, completely update Bitdefender if for some reason you don´t want "silent update".

By the way you can make a break from updates for a couple hours and during that time to turn off "auto update".

I don´t have nothing against your request, I'm just curious.

    Regards.

    Hi Rin2 :)

Not trying to hogpile on, but alexx69 has many good points listed, as well as options. So I may have to pass on this one, yet at least you're thinking on ways to improve things :)

Prompt before downloading or installing or turning off the updates is not the equivalent of the option "Update Interval". Since the update process usually consumes much resources and sometimes the browsers or opened application hanged up for a while and this may irritate the user when it happen many times. So if select to check/download/install update after "X" hours when I will become free, it would be beneficial.

Setting an interval for updates is similar to the Scheduled Update option.

Priority with user selections will be more useful that will fulfill the user requirements. Bitdefender 2011 was the only great product having a lot of customizations/settings that can accomplish the requirements for both Novice and Advanced Users.

    Hello everyone,

What would be with the security of our machines for a period of X hrs ?

What if I want to delay the updates 2 hours 15 minutes and 28 seconds today and tomorrow, 2 times for 3 hours 46 minutes 05 seconds?

    How does it do that?

If i turn OFF "auto update" to the above mentioned time, I can do it!

Turn ON "auto update"<"update now"(wait av signatures) after that "prompt before downloading"<"update now"(wait and choose product updates). All this I can do when I'm completely free.

I agree that they should give users a free hand to choose the way that will protect own systems, but the whole story about a delay updates is definitly in last place of priority.

This is the main reason because I am writing about this topic.

Argeed...IMHO we can come up with so many things (this is not a flame against your thread Rin2 :) ) we want Bitdefender to do, to the point of it becoming it's own Bitdefender "operating system"<img class=" />

And yet we have another request for this here. Does the Bitdefender updater module use that much bandwidth daily...as I've never checked that before. I thought it was a pretty light resource, bandwidth wise, but maybe every bit of saving helps for those with limited bandwidth, without having to manually run an update.

    Hello :)

This idea will be also cloned for Bitdefender 2014.

    Thank you!
