Messed Up Bitdefender Start Up Problem!

Everytime I start my computer and bitdefender loads the computer stops responding

for around 5 mins! Its like the explorer stops responding and even the hard drive but

its not frozen because I still see the gadget pictures moving and the time

and after a while everything works fine! It happened even after installing a fresh copy

of windows vista.

I noticed its the virus shield. I turn it off and everythings super fast. Why is this happening

how could I fix it? thank you

I have a similar problem. On boot up my PC freezes for about 3 mins, i have enough time to view Applications in the Task Manager which states bitdefender not responding - after 3 mins BD disapears from the Start bar and things are back to normal. I'm running Win XP - I think it has something to do with PC Doctor. I installed PC Doctor and got a blue screen error saying something about a BD sys file - I uninstalled PC doctor which cured the blue screen problem, but now i have to endure a 3 min lock out everytime i boot up.

any ideas would be much appreciated.
