Intrusion Detection System - Confused

Hi

I would have thought that, by default, BD Total Security 2013 would prevent any malware attempt to modify, delete or damage BD in any way. So why is the Intrusion Detection System set to OFF by default ?

Thank you.

    Thank you Charyb

This is helpful, but I still am confused, that if it is set to off, does it mean that BD is totally susceptible to malware attacks to tamper with BD systems ?

  • Intrusion Detection System: It is the heuristic monitoring of the applications trying to access network services or the Internet. Which means that application running on the computer receives a score whenever they perform a action on the computer. The software is evaluated from a malware point of view and if it reaches a certain level, then it is topped as being a malware.

Just for information, read this topic IDS.

I don't whether IDS in Bitdefender blocks external intrusions made by network worms (Conficker etc) and hackers etc.

    Hello all,

IDS is a third layer of protection which we recommend you to enable only when you suspect that your computer is infected and the antivirus does not detect the malware.
