Bitdefender And Avp
Dear all!
Is it possible to install at one PC Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 MP1 and BitDefender 10 free? I want use BD as additional security solution - scan computer from time to time or to check selected files, WITHOUT RUNNING BD real-time monitoring. I understand, there will be problems with HDD access (and antivirus' kernel protection) low-level drivers and services. But...:
1. At AVP support site (http://support.kaspersky.ru/faq/?qid=208635609) information about uncompatibility (AVP tries to uninstall) this versions of BD:
# Bit Defender Professional Edition 7.2
# Bit Defender Standard Edition 7.2
# BitDefender 8 Professional
# BitDefender 8 Professional Plus
# BitDefender 8 Standard
# BitDefender 9 Professional Plus
# BitDefender 9 Standard
2. Is it possible to stop some BitDefender's services or drivers (f.e. by Sysinternals' utility Autoruns) for correct work with AVP (I'll use online protection from AVP)? Even with losing part of functionality of BitDefender.
3. Question for BD's developers. Do you test how your software works together with another antiviruses?
Thank You,
Mikhail.
P.S.: It is not advertise of AVP! If it looks like - very sorry...

Hello Mikhail,
If you look below on that page, you'll see that BD Free Edition is also detected by KAV installer. However, it is not automatically removed, but the user is asked to remove it manually.
In other words, it seems that KAV is not compatible with any other security product, so you should only stick to it.
If you still want BD as a second choice, you have an alternative: BD Online Scanner. It installs as an ActiveX component in Internet Explorer and it's the same thing as BD Free. The difference is that it doesn't have any running processes, it's 100% compatible with any other security product, but it needs an internet connection to run (so it can't be used on a computer that hasn't an internet connection).
