Black Screen ! >.<

ok so i was installing BitDefender and for some reason my computer was running really slow while installing and it just froze all of the sudden. i tried command prompt but it just didn't work, so i just pressed the little restart button and it restarted. when it restarted the intel logo screen came up, then the windows loading screen came up. but when it hit the login screen the screen just went black like if was off but the little light that shows power in the screen was on. then i just pressed enter and i could hear the windows sound the one you can hear when you are entering. i could hear everything running perfectly even msn but my screen just wouldn't show up. i found out that if i unplugged my computer for about 10 minutes it would actually turn on and work perfect, so from there i can tell that is not a hardware problem but something with software. then i restarted the computer to see anything had happened but the problem came up again. i did that little solution thing and unistalled my graphic cards' drivers, after that i restarted the pc and the black screen just dissapeared. but the resolution was just horrible, i decided to install the drivers agai(i downloaded them off the official web site which is http://www.nvidia.com/) and the problem came up again. before this problem i could play video games like half life 2, but now when i try the screen will just go black please someone help me fix this !!!!!!!!

  • Dear MatiMaster,

Reboot your pc into safe mod by pressing several times on the F8 button before the windows loading screen select safe mode. Log in with your account go to start, control panel, set it on classic view, press now on monitor (screen),settings, advanced, monitor, check the radio box hide modi that this monitor can't display and set it on 75 Hz press on apply and ok. You should always remove you previous drivers first before installing new drivers. To see if the problem isn't with you 3d-card go to start, run, type dxdiag press enter click on the monitor (screen/tab) perform the tests and see what the result take also a look if there are errors reported. After that type devmgmt.msc into the run dialog box press enter. Expand monitor (screen) adaptors you may not find an exclamation mark. Test your monitor also on another pc to see if it isn't your monitor.

i am sorry i double posted but i don't know how to edit this.

ok so i formated the pc and still has the same problem i checked with the monitor and it dosn't have any problems i did all of the directX test and all of them show. but there is this little note in the display tab that says

The system is using the generic video driver. Please install video driver provided by the hardware manufacturer.

To test DirectDraw functionality, click the "Test DirectDraw" button above.

Direct3D functionality not available. You should verify that the driver is a final version from the hardware manufacturer. and the refresh frequenzy of my monitor is 60 and i can't set it, it only says use hardware default settings. please help !!! i can't fix this.

  • Dear MatiMaster,

That is normal behaviour that is because your video card is now using windows default vga driver and not the specific driver of your videocard. That is also the reason why you can't change Hz. That always happens when you perform a format. Download and install the latest drivers for your operating system and video card from the nvidia website.

    Dear,Neils

I already did that and when i install it is when the screen goes black. I put in settings hide what this monitor can't support and the best that shows there is 1280 x 1240 60HZ before that was the settings and it would look grate. but now when i set the settings like that my screen goes black when booting, or really when the screen gona change resolution from the windows loading screen to the welcome screen, that is when it always gets black. although everything is working under i can hear it , but i can't see it, the only way i can get to make the screen run in 1280 x 1240 is by unplugging the pc from the out_let, and it'll work once and that is it, if I want to do it again i have to unpplug the pc again sadly.

Any ones know how to fix this ????? HELP !!!!

  • Hello MatiMaster,

I think you should contact LiveAssistance, because this is an issue that we cannot do anything about. We are only volunteers here and what you need is professional support, directly from the BD Team.

Please contact LiveAssistance and they will give you some instructions.

  • Dear MatiMaster,

This is more a hardware issue or a problem with the game that you are trying to play. Try to delete the config file which is located in the game directory. Sometimes when you have set an unsupported resolution this behaviour can occur.
