Massive Bandwidth Usage Problem Is Back!

Hi.

there used to be a known problem for some users with older versions of Bitdefender. when you visited a page containing a flash video even after leaving the page and closing the browser, it kept downloading data and using all the bandwidth.

there was a workaround for this problem described here:

i haven't encountered this problem for some time but since last week it seems to be back again. this time even adding HttpAppSkip key to registry or even unchecking Http scan in antivirus makes no difference.

i am using Bitdefender Total Security 2012 with Windows XP SP3.

is the same old registry location (\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\BitDefender) changed? or can't we use HttpAppSkip anymore.

any help would be appreciated. this used to be a very annoying problem and i don't like it back.

thanks

    Hi :)

As the new Bitdefender 2013 product suite was released, we would like to inform you that you benefit from a FREE upgrade to the latest version.

Apart from the fact that the 2013 suite brings lots of new features and improvements, it will most likely solve any issues that you may have encountered with your previous Bitdefender product.

    Please check out this announcement:

    Thank you.

  • I don't know why i am even bothering writing this post.... but anyway.

MY FRIENDS!! 2013 doesn't solve it. as 2012 didn't solve it when it was a problem in 2011, (and 2010 also)

simple problem. packets go into FIN_WAIT2 state, BD keeps the connection alive.

nowadays i keep Tcpview at hand and close these connection manually every time i am done watching a video, or cancelling a download.

after 3 years, there is about 3 months left of my licence. when it finishes i am migrating to another product.

    farewell!!
