Preserving Virus Definitions

Hello,

How might it be possible to preserve currently downloaded virus definitions before re-installing BD AV Plus v10? I have done so before to solve otherwise irreparable problems; on another computer. Just before re-installation, the BD programs displays a message advising to save settings since they will be erased. Sound advice; but how? And, is it not referring to the definitions?

Perhaps, for a simpler approach this time, can anyone suggest what to do about BD's Livesrv program causing the computer to "hang" shortly after the shutdown request? The OS, this time, is Windows ME. After a few moments of waiting, after pressing ctrl-alt-dlt once, the "Close Program" display shows Livesrv has stopped responding.

Additional note: The version of BD on the ME machine is actually the free version.

Thank you for any help.

  • Dear cbdu,

If you want to back-up the virus signatures you can download them here. If you install BitDefender again you can run these installer packages so you don't have to download that much of updates.

That message is only for the paid version if you want to back-up the spammers and friend list for the antispam option and also for the firewall rules, and for backing-up the rules for protection your confidential information (such as credit card number, phone number,...) If you created such rules in the antispyware section.

    Best regards
