Installing Hp8500 Wifi Printer Fails To Find Printer

Hi,

I've been fighting to install the drivers for my HP8500 wireless printer.

The PC is connected via cable and wireless to the network.

The printer is on the wireless network, and accessible at address 192.168.1.5.

The support center instructed to verify the the windows firewall is off (IT IS).

To reset the Furtive mode and set the "Generic mode" -> done.

To reinitialize the firewall rules -> done.

But This did not solved the problem.

I have removed the HP drivers and reinstalled them -> same results.

The printer is accessible through http://192.168.1.5/

Any ideas would be appreciated...

  • Did you try to ping the printer?

Set Network Type : Home/Office or Trusted

    Stealth Mode: OFF

and Allow Printer IP address in Firewall Adapter Rules.

Ping 192.168.1.5 works fine and http://192.168.1.5 works too.

Thanks for the suggestions ONT, but setting the Net Type to Home office or trusted did not change the result. :-(

  • The 2013 products released from Bitdefender is a total mess with lots of bugs.

    You could try this steps.:

Download the uninstall tool from this link: http://www.bitdefender.com/files/Knowledge...nstall_Tool.exe

Also download the latest build of BD from this link: http://download.bitdefender.com/windows/de...ts_2013_64b.exe

    1) Boot into safe mode and run the uninstall tool as administrator "In order to run it as administrator right click on it and chose run as administrator" Let the tool to finish uninstalling and it will prompt you to reboot or it will say uninstall completed successfully and reboot your system into normal mode.

    2) Install the latest build provided in the link above and make sure its updated.

If it downloads a huge update, you will need to reboot your system to complete the updates.

3)Make sure Bitdefender is up to date and try again.

    Thanks for the tip..

Any way to check the latest build date for the BD?

My installation was done 10 days ago.. on a brand new PC.

  • I gave you this steps because there is a good reason for it.

It will be too long to explain everything in detail.

    Hope this helps.

Post back if you are still having issues.

At the ens the problem was not from Bitdefender, but from the HP drivers.

I was following the instructions, and after removing Bitdefender, I tried to reinstalll the HP 8500A package again..

To my surprise the problem was the same, but this time BD could not be the problem.

I found another package with the drivers on the HP site ant that one worked.

    Thank you for your help!
