Installation Stuck

It seems I'm not alone in installation problems with Bitdefender, but no one seems to have had this particular problem. Running ASUS Win 7-64. The uninstall tool seems to have uninstalled BD 2012 and Sec Ess. without a problem. Then it began the screen that has 3 progress bars: Scanning Downloading and Installing. The first two progressed fairly quickly, although not as quickly as I would have expected. Then the third began. It actually began before the other two finished, but is now stuck about 2/3 done. After an hour I hit the Cancel button, but it will not let me cancel. It says that I have to wait until the current process is finished. It has now been 2 hours. It's my laptop, and has sensitive programs on it, and I don't just want to force cancel, but it is not progressing. Any ideas?
