Very Slow Program...
I did a lot of research on BitDefender, and saw it was rated very highly for performance, virus detection/removal, and spyware work, with a very good price.
I then started running the trial of Total Security at home, and of SBS Standard Security here on a server and a test client with no problems.
So, I purchased 100 licenses of SBS for the organization to replace our (VERY) outdated Symantec SAV we have had since 2000.
We currently have 8 PC's with Client Professional, and 1 server with BitDefender for File Servers.
Bitdefefender Client Professional is setup to scan all files under 20MB on these machines. The Default is 5MB, but that seems to me to be too small as most users have open internet access and can download files larger then 5MB easily. I have also turned off scanning inside archives, and the registry monitor is disabled. In fact, the only module we are using on these clients is the AV.
I have heard complaints from the users of 4 of the 8 computers BD is installed on (one of which has not been used yet) that thier system is locking up, and is extremely slow. I confirmed it took one user 4 minutes to switch from one e-mail message to another in outlook. When BT was turned off, it immediatly improved back to regular performance. A couple of these computers are XP, and a couple are 2000. There seems to be no correlation between performance and OS on these.
I have been manually uninstalling SAV using add/remove programs on each of these computers and rebooting prior to installing BD.
One of these i beleive MAY be an incomplete SAV uninstall, but am not yet sure. The others, I have no idea on. I have checked the system reqs for BD, and the slowest of these machines is 1.4Ghz, with 256 RAM.. Should be more then enough to run BD based on reqs.
BD for File Servers seems to be ok on the server it is running on, now that we have tweaked it like crazy to fix all the processes it initially broke...
Also, my computer at home (Vista X64 3.2Ghz dual core processor, 3GB RAM) running BD TS 2008 loads into the profile from where BD was installed very slowly. It seems to have no trouble loading into other profiles however. This began immediatly after TS 2008 was installed. Could this be a vista compatability issue?
Ideas?

Am now also hearing reports that BD is locking processes all over the company network, not just on itself. We have many custom written automated systems that constantally manupulate and move files all over the place, and BS scanning every file on the network instead of simply on the server its located on is causing errors all over the place.

Well, I was visiting the forums today to gripe about something, but I can tell you that my experience with Bitdefender Client Professional has been very different. I don't get very slow behavior, and I push my personal systems pretty hard. I do however, have a minimum of 512MB RAM and a Pentium 4 w/ Windows XP-Pro on all my client systems (approx. 40 of them) with very few exceptions.
On my own PC, which is a laptop with a 1.3 MHz Pentium-M and 1.25GB of memory, I get great performance, and I have both the on-access virus scanner and the firewall turned on.
I have found problems with BD scanning files being written to network drives (smb shares) and have had to enter exceptions for those so that things only get scanned once. Also there is the ever-popular "Office 2007" bug where you can't save a file to an smb share at all for some reason.
I'm holding out for V3. If it turns out to be vaporware I'm going to be one unhappy camper.0
