How To Go To And Select Options To Scan Password Files?

Hello everyone!

I just ran my first scan and i have some files that are password protected that cannot be scanned.

BitDefender says to extract them, and then selet them as target in the scanning options.

I've tried to figure out how to do this, but i havent had any luck. How do i extract the files and how do i get to the options menu?

If somebody could walk me through this slowly that would be great.

Dear allisch,

Extracting is only possible when you downloaded an archive in other words a .zip or .rar file. To extract these kind of archives you need a tool such as winzip or winrar or a multi extract tool.

Sometimes it could be that an other security program has password protected the quarantined infections. That you can't extract. The only thing that you can do is starting that program and emptying the quarantine.

If you have extract them right click on the output folder and click on BitDefender Antivirus 2008. So it will be scanned. Once extracted and you perform a deep or full or quick scan than also the extracted files will be scanned. Ofcourse you will still see the password protected files being reported.
