Mail Scanning Message Bubbles

Is there any way to disable the message bubbles when Bit Defender scans my mail. I don't want to disable the scanning only the message bubbles

  • G’Day “ Eric Houston”,

Are you by any chance referring to the message popup that may appear during a scan when a virus is detected and BD scan informs you that it has eliminated or stoped the virus from infecting your system and tells you that it is safe ?

If this is the case, I suggest you take note of the information that you can access from the popup message and write down the Folder and File information in which the virus was detected.

Your message indicates that you have a lot of these popup messages, further indicating to me that you may have a badly infected PC system.

There are in the Settings parameters of BD where you can disable these pop-up’s, so if you do, what then ?

Some Trojan and Worm infections are difficult to clean and sometimes a Scanner from almost any publisher, will not fix or remove the Trojan downloader and other infections, and this information maybe vital to then track down the actual source of the infection and the agent that is causing it.

As an example, the “Smitfraud” and it’s related Trojan and Worm downloader’s cannot be cleaned by a single Virus scanner, and it is only by running a “HijackThis” type program and generating a complex report which you then need to have examined by a spet to determine the registry and other parameters to find the location of the culprits. Then you need to take multiple other actions and use other programs, and generate further HijackThis reports going backwards and forwards, that after many attempt may get rid of the source of the infection repeating cause which was loaded on your PC system and you may have a clean system again.

Learn to use the pop-up’s – record the information which is also then helpful when you post messages telling other members what the real problem is.

At the end of a scan you also then have options to remove the infections that the scan has found. In this you will find that it cannot i.e. “No Action Possible” and you then need the information as to what it cannot action (remove).

The final scan report will yield all of the resultant findings, however, if your system is badly infected, then you may not get that far and any information that you did collect will be crucial to help you get rid of the virus and other infections from your PC systems.

“Some information” is better than “No information and a format of the hard drive.”

Your PC got infected by something you did, find out what that was, collect information - that way you prevent making the same mistake twice!

  • Dear Eric_houston,

You can disable the pop-up's by doing this right click on the red BitDefender icon near thet system clock press on open advanced settings, now click on advanced and uncheck show pop-up and press on ok.You will not get informed anymore. But you can always take a look in the BitDefender logbook. To do that go to the BitDefender Security Center and press on history. There you can see what infection has been found and what action that has been taken also with the location.

    Best regards

    Niels

    Dear pcbugfixer,

I think that he is referring to the little pop-up that you see when you are sending an email. You only disable the pop-up but BitDefender will always take action but the only thing is you will not get notified about it on the screen but you can see it in the BitDefender history.

    Best regards
