Still Broken On First Scan
I just installed Bitdefender AV 2013 on yet another freshly-built W-7 system using a legal Microsoft MSDN disc. Just like the last few times, the first scan turned up a rootkit. The only website I visited was Bitdefender's, so does Bitdefender's website contain a rootkit?
Another thing I only half-noticed last time happened again. My home page was reset to about:blank by Bitdefender.
And when I booted into Rescue Mode just for laughs, I was given a dialog with something like "Cannot connect to the server" implying, I assume, that Bitdefender's Rescue Mode cannot connect to the mother ship.

Hi Barogue-quest,
After weeks of unsuccessfully dealing with issues when trying to download a purchased update to Bitdefender Total Security, I sent my computer to a computer technician. It turns out that the link sent by Bitdefender messed up the registry and totally hung up the computer. He removed Bitdefender, cleaned out the system and it is now working fine. I have asked Bitdefender for a refund and have offered to send then a link to their email to prove that the problem originated from them, but have not heard from them. I'd suggest that you completely remove Bitdefender from your system and try again with something else that does not cause so many issue. Good luck to you!0 -
You can just do a simple system restore with this. Especially if it includes registry issues.

For Internet Connectivity issue in Rescue Mode, do the following and then try to scan from the Rescue Mode.
1) Disable wireless connection.
2) Enable only Ethernet Connection.
3) Update Ethernet Adapter drivers from Windows environment.
4) Check IP configuration.0 -
