Cisco Quickvpn Troubles

I have Windows 8 64bit with all the latest MS patches. I also have just recently installed Bitdefender Windows 8 Security. When I try to use Cisco QuickVPN version 1.4.2.1 I can connect but a final test that the VPN client attempts is to perform a PING test of the IP address I am trying to reach. That ping test fails. I tried disabling Bitdefender firewall and still the same problem. I tried enabling just Windows firewall and still same problem. Then I tried both Bitdefender and Windows firewalls enabled and I can then fully connect.

The errors I get from Cisco QuickVPN's log file that ultimately results in the failure are these:

[sTATUS]Verifying Network...

[WARNING]Failed to ping remote VPN Router!

[WARNING]Failed to ping remote VPN Router!

[WARNING]Failed to ping remote VPN Router!

[WARNING]Failed to ping remote VPN Router!

[WARNING]Failed to ping remote VPN Router!

[WARNING]Ping was blocked, which can be caused by an unexpected disconnect.

The Cisco QuickVPN software apps "wget.exe" and "vpnclient" are both set to Allow Any protocol.

Prior to installing the Bitdefender product I used another firewall solution (not Windows built-in system) and never had this issue.
