Bd 2013 Blocking Itunes
Hello all
Recently purchased BitDefender IS 2013, and immediately became unable to access the iTunes store. It says "accessing" but the little progress bar at the top just sits there spinning. I used Autoruns to check Winsock Providers and it is definitely BD causing the problem, not an issue with iTunes itself. iTunes is up to date to the latest version 11.0.4.4. BD is version 16.31.0.1868, Windows is 7 Home Premium. All Windows and BD updates installed to date. Any suggestions?
Apparently this has been a problem in the past: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?sho...35393&st=40

Hi EV3, and welcome
First, please consider the recommended Firewall settings found here: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=35496
If that doesn't resolve it, then try going into Bitdefender Firewall Settings, and on the bottom, enable Paranoid Mode. Restart your PC, then run iTunes and see if when you try to access the store, you get a Firewall pop up notification asking you to allow the connection, and allow.
Otherwise, you may have to manually set up a Firewall Application rule: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=36066
Also found in 2nd part of this link: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=35502
Hope one of these helps

Hi columbo!
Thanks for your fast reply, but unfortunately none of your suggestions worked. I also tried the Command prompt "netsh winsock reset" and still nothing
EDIT* Sorry I should mention, paranoid mode did NOT prompt a connection request. Also, Autoruns specifies that its the "Parental provider plugin"0 -
You're welcome, EV3, yet sorry none of the suggestions worked. It looks like you read the "correct" thread, with all its proposed fixes. Yet, that should have been resolved with the .1349 build. Here are a few more options for you, though.
- You can run a Repair, restart your PC, and see if that helps: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=35489
- You can wait here for others who may have a suggestion, or for Tech Support/Georgia to help you.
- You can try the other Support options: http://www.bitdefender.com/support/contact-us.html
- Or, you can uninstall the 2013 version, and install the New version, and see if that helps. 2013 Uninstall and Uninstall Tool. The New Bitdefender direct download links.
Kind regards
Scott
