Probably something to do with the changes in the last update to do with Windows Account rights:

Has your pictured windows user account got full admin rights or is it a limited one? Also, if using Windows 8.1 then functionality of the program may not be as expected. There will still be some inconsistencies.
Also, Georgia posted the following in response to another Windows 8.1 query:Hello,
The New Bitdefender can be installed on the Windows 8.1 Preview. However, we can not guarantee the full functionality of the product on a prerelease O.S.
Rest assured that when Windows 8.1 hits the market Bitdefender will be perfectly compatible with it.
Thanks for posting, hope you have a beautiful week ahead!0 -
Can you also make sure that you're logged in as an administrator? Or probably run the program as "Run as administrator". Hopefully, that will do the trick.

i can confirm this is a bug.
when using hybrid shutdown feature in windows 8 when the system wakes up the scanner does not get admin rights.
i had to redo system scan without logging out and it carried out necessary actions.
I'm using windows 8 x64 enterprise0 -
Hello Pushkar Gogte,
Thank you for your feedback.
Could you please perform the following test when Windows wakes up from hybrid shutdown?
- right click on the Bitdefender icon located on your desktop and select Run As Administrator (doing so should elevate all the rights to Admin)
- now try again to run a scan and check the results
Looking forward to your reply!0 -

Does right clicking and selecting Run as Administrator set it to run at administrator every time the computer is restarted? If not, is there a way to set this permanently?0
