Bitdefender Total Security Scan Failures

Hello. My Bitdefender Total Security installation on a new Dell XPS 18 running Windows 8 brings an icon to the taskbar every few minutes regarding the Bitdefender scan running. It has an option to double-click and view the status of the scan. However, double-clicking simply causes the icon to disappear and the scan seems to be interrupted. Choosing not to click on the icon results in it remaining for a minute or so, then disappearing with the scan presumably being interrupted.


Bringing up the console shows no scans running and in fact shows "Last scan: Never". This after I've run numerous "Quick" and "System" scans manually and they completed.


I would like for the automatic scans to complete, I would like to have the ability to check their completion status, and I would like to see the console showing the scans rather than "Never". At least until I develop some confidence that this product actually works on Windows 8.


Any suggestions?
