Bitdefender Disabling My Wireless Adapter

I recently installed Bitdefender Internet Security 2013, renewing from the previous 2012. Now, my wireless adapter will not work. This was not a problem before this new installation.

I am running Windows XP on an HP ProBook 4415s. All Windows XP updates are onboard, but not SP3.

When I access the HP Wireless Assistant menu, both the Wireless LAN and the Bluetooth items are in the "Disabled" Status mode, and the Action button to turn the Wireless and Bluetooth services to "Enabled" is grayed out, both of these Action buttons cannot be turned on or off. So, I cannot access any wireless networks.

I have tried disabling all of the Bitdefender services, turning them all to "off", including firewall and virus scan. This does not help the situation.

Any suggestions?
