Dell Says Bitdefender Causing Vista Bsod
Hello all,
Ive been having a bad time with Dell support concerning my new Inspiron 1720 with Vista.
Since I recieved it in Nov and removed the trail version of TrendMicro, Ive had tons of BSOD's.
I installed BitDefender Internet Security V10 without a problem, since Ive enjoyed good results with it on my XP machines for years, I figured all was well.
Ive submitted my email logs to Dell support to the customer advocate today.
Customer support says Bitdefender is the cause of the BSODs.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled it as they suggested, but no cure.
The errors from the crashes are typical messages giving no real cause.
Page Fault in nonpaged area, Bad Pool Caller, APC Index Mismatch, PFN list corrupt, Sys profiler error, Stop......geez
So my question here is BitDefender Internet Security V10 working OK with Vista?
Any help would be appreciated.

Dear douchrti,
If I read what you wrote the problems only started when you removed the trial version of Trend Micro?
Did you had BitDefender installed at the same moment? The problem could be related by a faulty uninstall of Trend micro please try this. There is also a special removal tool but you have to contact trend micro support to receive it.
BitDefender 10 products are not compatiblewith vista service pack 1.
But you can use BitDefender Internet Security 2008 for free for the remaining days of your current license key which is compatible with vista service pack 1.
Can you please do this press the windows button together with r now type eventvwr press enter open and please export the found errors. So I might can find the cause of these BSOD.
Best regards

Hi Niels,
Thanks for the quick reply,
I uninstalled TrendMicro with the uninstaller then rebooted and installed BitDefender Internet Security V10.
For some reason I was sure I read at the site that V10 was Vista ready.
So I should uninstall V10 and install 2008?
Heres the last two crash logs

Dear douchrti,
Can you please collect these files for me they are located here:
C:\Windows\Minidump\
C:\Users\SpywareBiz\AppData\Local\Temp\
C:\Windows\Temp search for folder that begins with WER
If windows ask you to send these file to them first copy the .dmp files that are located in the minidump folder, temp folder to a location of your choice. After that you may send these reports. If you immediately send these files those folders will be empyt.
So I can see what might caused the blue screen. But I can't guarantuee that I am going to be able to solve it.
Yes but you should uninstall the previous BitDefender version first. For instructions take a look at this topic and follow the instruction that I gave him to upgrade.
Best regards
