Temporary Disable Bitdefender

I need to temporarily disable Bitdefender so that I can perform a Windows 7 System Restore. However, in msconfig I cannot uncheck the Update Service or Virus Shield entries in the Services tab - they immediately re-check themselves. Can I do this without totally uninstalling Bitdefender?

do they still get re-ticked if you turn off autopilot, automatic update and avc from within the bitdefender user interface?
