Firewall Slowly Killing Off My Browsers
Hi,
About a week ago Chrome stopped working on my machine - annoying but not worth investigating, then 3 days ago my primary browser Fire Fox also stopped being able to access the internet, after uninstalling and nuking remaining files and reinstalling it still was not fixing the problem. Pressed for time I just started using Internet Explorer.
Now Internet Explorer is not working too, so instantly I think of the firewall, I turn it off and amazing everything works again. Then I turn it back on and straight away nothing works again. So I tried explicitly adding the executables for each browser allowing all options for the rule in the firewall... Nothing worked still.
So I can only access the internet with no firewall active.
Can anyone shed some light on this?
Xavier.

I have a very similar problem.
Installed Bitdefender Internet Security 2014 (EN-M1) on my son's laptop and sent him off to college.
Yesterday he experienced the same problem: both google chrome and IE could not access the internet.
However, his online game worked fine.
Disabling the firewall and the browsers worked.
Even stranger is that he sent me emails a few hours prior to the problem showed up.
What can we do now?

I'd say double check the Firewall settings. Click Bitdefender Internet Security>Settings>Firewall. Under the "Settings" tab, click "General Rules". Then make sure "DNS over UDP", "DNS over TCP", "Sending Emails", and "Web Browsing HTTP" are all set to ALLOW. You can also add your web browsers to the "Application Rules", and see if that works.
But as far as the scope of this problem goes, I'm typing this using IE and have downloaded and tested Chrome. It all works fine.
Don't forget, you can also set up an email ticket with Customer Support here:0 -
Hello everyone,
If the pages do not load properly in your web browsers after installing Bitdefender, make sure the Bitdefender Firewall is properly configured:
1- open Bitdefender, go to Firewall panel and make sure it is turned on
2- click on "Manage adapters" and locate the adapter. It is either Local Area Connection if the device is connected by cable or Wireless Area connection if it is a wireless device
3- for this particular adapter please set :
* Network type to Home/Office
* Stealth mode to Off
* Generic to YES and click Close
Check if everything is back to normal afterwards.0 -
I am having this same issue as of this morning. I've tried all of the advice above as well as all steps on this page: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=39492
I've tried removing all application rules and leaving BitDefender on autopilot then relaunching Chrome to no avail. I've also increased the log verbosity in settings however I see no entries in the log file for today, the last entries are dated 4/10 and no new log entries are being made. I've had to disable the BD firewall and re-enable the Windows firewall just to have a functioning connection.
I bought a 3 license pack and have only installed BitDefender on my laptop so far. Between the issue of the game mode popup constantly appearing when going back and forth between something on the other monitor and a game combined with this issue I'm no longer inclined to install it on the rest of my systems.0 -
Hello,
The issue also occurs on other web browsers? Or just with Chrome?
You could try resetting the browser to the default settings:

If the issue persists, to further investigate the issue please provide me with a support tool log and with a connectivity log by following these steps:

Thank you.0
