Outlook Express Hangs On First Opening--ideas?

Hi all,

Windows XP HE operating sys

Just installed BD Internet Security 2008 v 11.0.16, updated, ran scan etc. All works just fine EXCEP when I open OE, it hangs (no BD toolbar showing) as soon as the first screen is visible. Usual MS error messages, "program not responding". After I force the exit of OE anyway, and then reopen it, all works fine. BD toolbar is there and spam filtering etc are working. I've tried reinstalling, repairing, rebooting, removing the message rule for BD (it comes back), and the regsvr 32 .....bdo.dll and .....bdoe.dll tricks. Nothing works. When I ran the regsvr32 ....bdoe.dll, I get the error message about ......file loaded, but DllRegister server entry point not found. Sysdump attached. Any ideas?/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=1899" data-fileid="1899" rel="">sysdump.txt

  • After 3 days it now seems to be working "properly". Crazy, as I changed or did nothing else while awaiting some new ideas on how to proceed.

  • Hello r2d2,

Try this use the windows search option : press the windows button together with f , select all files and folders by search within choose for local hard disck as search term type this *.dbx let it search. Once found double click on the search results. Once you are on the location right click on the .dbx file and see if read-only is unchecked don't forget to press on ok to confirm. Try again. If it still fails try the following but first we are going to take a back-up of your email messages: Go to start,my computer double click on the icon of your hard disk open the documents and settings folder now go to the tools menu, folder options,display/view check the option show hidden files and folders and press on ok. Open the folder with your username,Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{GUID} (this is is a folder that has numbers and letters in the name)\Microsoft\Outlook Express and back-up the entire folder. Now delete the folders(.dbx) file.See if you now are able to open outlook express.

    Best regards
