Laptop Mode

I own a license of antivirus plus 2013 which i run on my laptop.

I enabled the option to automatically enter laptop mode. When i unplug the power and laptop starts working on batteries, bitdefender tells me that it entered laptop mode. And i noticed that this mode switched off autopilot.

When i plug it back in to power source, autopilot does not switch on again. Is this a bug?

Please explain in some more detail what is laptop mode and how it should work, because i want to tune it in such a way that it won't full-scan the hdd when on batteries, also probably won't update, because being on batteries usually also means that i'm on a metered internet connection if any.
