Windows 8.1 - Bitdefender New Internet Security Installing Stucks At %67

Hi,

I've decided to buy Bitdefender for my computer, before I buy, I wanted to try it.

Today I tried to install Bitdefender but when installation progress comes to %67, it stucked. But I could see the BitDefender shourtcuts and tray icon(which are clickable-and running) but the progress didn't go further like 30-40 min. Then I restarted my computer.

Then I tried to uninstall Bitdefender with normal windows uninstaller, it said "we uninstalled succesfully..." but the icons were still there and they're working(at least they were showing themselves) Then I tried Bitdefender Uninstaller, it said "succesfully" too, i reboot my computer and tried to install again. It stucked in %67 again. What should I do?

Ps. Sorry for bad English. I hope it's clear.

  • Hello herbivor,

Before installing Bitdefender did you completely uninstall your previous antivirus, not just with the Windows Control Panel but using the specific AV uninstall tool that most of them supply? If not you need to uninstall Bitdefender using the uninstall tool, run the uninstall tool of the previous AV and then try again.

Which version of BD are you trying to use?

  • I didn't remember when I used last AV but there is no AV in my computer now.

Is there any software that tracks every remaining AV files and delete them?

  • You need to remember the name of the last anti-virus program you used, without knowing that you don't know what to look for as there are a lot of them. The uninstaller for the AV will remove traces left in windows folders and the registry which may be the cause of your problem.

You may have some files and/or registry entries left on your computer from an anti-virus program that had previously been running on the computer.

What anti-virus (AV) program(s) was/were previously installed on this computer before you tried to install BDIS?

Did you uninstall them with the AV manufactuters uninstall tool? AV programs should always only be uninstalled using the AV program uninstall tool created by the manufacturer.. If not the left over software and/or registry entries can cause problems with the new AV program on the computer and generally mess up your computer.
