Firewall On Means No Internet For Browsers
Tonight I installed the New BD. I think I paid about $89 for the product. Since installation I cannot access the internet without the Firewall being turned completely OFF. I've never seen a product destroy all browsers and internet connectivity like this one. If I cannot use this product and provide reasonable firewall protection without sacrificing all internet connectivity, I have no choice but to contact my Credit Card company and report your company as a fraudulent operation and request the charges be reversed. This is a bad flaw.

I have never had a problem with Firefox and BDIS on W7. Did you check your Windows and BD firewall app settings to make sure they are not being blocked by either firewall?0 -

Unfortunately, glitches do happen OwnerCS, as with any vendors security software. Sometimes it's previous leftover AV software that hasn't been totally removed using their uninstall tool, that can still leaving behind misc files etc. which can corrupt a Bitdefender install.
As per Nesivos suggestion, could you confirm that you have the Firewall set to the Recommended Settings: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=35496
Or, maybe also try enabling Paranoid mode, restarting your PC and see if you get a outbound connection alert to when you open up a browser? Settings/Firewall/Alert intensity/Paranoid mode /ON
You could also try running a repair, as that can do wonders at times (restarting your PC): http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=35489
I'm running BD 2014 IS on Window 8.1 64-bit, FF 28.0 with no problems (including Chrome v34, and IE 11).0 -

Re Recommended Settings
I have BD W8 Security on three W8.1 updated computers and BDIS on one W7-SP1 computer. In all cases the BD Manage Adapters are set to
Network Type - Home
Stealth Mode - Remote vs Recommended setting of Stealth Mode Off
Generic - No vs Recommended setting of Generic Yes
From the BD W8 Security Users Guide. I imagine it says the same thing in the BDIS Users Guide
Stealth option
On Off Remote Description
Stealth Mode is on. Your computer is invisible from both the local network and the Internet.
Stealth Mode is off. Anyone from the local network or the Internet can ping and detect your computer.
Remote . Your computer cannot be detected from the Internet. Local network users can ping and detect your computer.
Generic - whether generic rules are applied to this connection.
No. If the IP address of a network adapter is changed, Bitdefender modifies the network type accordingly.
Yes. If you want to keep the same type, select Yes from the corresponding drop-down menu.
I also use WiFi Guard to identify if there are any new IP addresses attempting to connect to my network
I think the recommended settings are more convienent.0 -

Yes, I think that can be a good bottom line, as Georgia and ONT also consider the Yes option for Generic:

The 2014 IS manual says the same thing:
● Generic - whether generic rules are applied to this connection.
If the IP address of a network adapter is changed, Bitdefender modifies the network
type accordingly. If you want to keep the same type, select Yes from the
corresponding drop-down menu.0
