Subscription Renewal: How To Update To Bd 2014 Using A Newly Purchased Product Code

Hello;

I have a quick question regarding renewing my subscription to BitDefender Antivirus Plus.

I currently have BD Antivirus Plus 2013 installed, and have recently purchased the 2014 version in order to renew my subscription (it was cheaper to buy a boxed new version than renewing from BitDefender’s website). I did the same thing last year and just entered the code I received with the boxed set and my subscription was renewed.

My question: will my 2013 version of BD be automatically updated to the 2014 version if I just enter the new code, or do I have to reinstall the new version I purchased to take advantage of the newer components in the 2014 version? I’m hoping to avoid a re-install, but I would like to update my 2013 version to the 2014 version.

You will have to reinstall, just entering your license code will not change the version you have.

That nice, finally being able to upgrade without an uninstall.

You CANNOT install the new build over an old version it does NOT work as Rohugh already stated. Neither does it automatically download the new version because you entered a code.

Thanks to those who replied to my query.

I understand that I need to install the new BitDefender product. However, the link that Georgia provided (http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?act...f=366&id=58) and the instructions link therein does not mention if the existing product (in my case BitDefender AntiVirus Plus 2013) has to be uninstalled first, or if simply downloading the free upgrade will overwrite the old version.

So my final (hopefully) question: do I need to uninstall my old version before I can install the new one, or will the free upgrade do this for me automatically? (It would be good if the instructions on the installation page http://www.bitdefender.com/support/Install...oduct-1149.html would make this more clear since it is related to the upgrade).

Hello Tonia, yes to avoid stability issues you need to uninstall the old version prior to installing the new one.
