Playstation 3 Streaming Issue

Hello.

Does anybody know how to configure BitDefender Internet Security 2008 (BDIS 2008) so I can stream pictures, music and video files to my PS3 using TVersity Media Server? I keep getting DLNA network erros no matter what I do.

I've tried to set up so many different rules but to no avail.

Turning off the firewall solves the problem but it also leaves my computer unprotected.

My computer and PS3 is connected to a wired LAN through a D-LINK router. I also have an Xbox 360 and it works absolutely perfect with BDIS 2008 and TVersity Media Server.

I have downloaded a 30-days demo of another internet security suite, and so far everything is working like clockwork

However, I still have 465 days left of my BDIS license so I'm keeping my fingers crossed hoping that there is a solution to my problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,

L. Andersen, Denmark.

  • I am also having the same issue and the only way that I have found to work so far is to turn off the stealth mode. Im currently looking for another way because I dont like the idea of having it off

  • If turning off Stealth Mode solves the problem, then it means that PS3 scans the ports of the computer to find (maybe) an open port for transaction. This is interpreted by BitDefender as an attack, and the IP of the PS3 is banned for a period of time.

The same thing happens if you try to run a FTP server on your PC without disabling Stealth Mode: anyone who connects will be banned in a few seconds because of port scanning.

So far, the only solution is disabling Stealth Mode, which disables the port scan protection.

  • Same problem here. Wow, that solution totally ######. I'm going to have to re-install zone alarm or use the windows firewall or something. I'm not leaving my computer open to port scanning. Boooooo! <img class=" />

Disabling Stealth Mode does solve the problem in my case and it may also work for other BDIS users. I think we can agree that this is not a perfect solution and it looks like there's no other way to solve this matter.

I hope the software developers at BitDefender are working on a solution. Maybe it's me but I just don't understand why there's isn't any information about this on their website. A few words in the FAQ's or known issues section or whatever it's called would be great. Searching for PlayStation 3 won't help you at all <img class=" />

There must be several other users out there who are struggling with the exact same thing.

Should you have any information about an upcoming update or have you been in contact with BitDefender Support, please let me/us know about it.

So far, I haven't been able to find out what or if they're going to do something about it.

Thanks for replies, by the way

  • Media stream to PS3 using Bit Defender ????

This ongoing Playstation media streaming issue has not been addressed at all by Bit defender and has been about since Bit Defender 8 was updated as this version was ok to media stream on a lan network but now???

Well I've searched everywhere even asked bit Defender support to see if they can resolve this issue and the official answer was to download the lastest BD software which is Internet Security 2009 and I tell you, that hasn't done a thing, infact it looks even harder to configure than before.

So my question is I've done everything and with this new 2009 software it doersn't even have a quick disable hotkey to turen off all your protection as well which is a pain as you have to stop everything individially

So does anyone know how to fix this software problem so the computer can media stream to the playstation 3.

I have the PS3 set as a fully trusted Ip address. I also have the media server app set as allowed in firewall settings.

I'm stumped as to how to fix this and will probably cancel my subscription if they cannot resolve this fault?

Help, anyone else having drama with this

    thanks in Advance

  • Hi flux, I've just resolved this issue on 2008. I had to:

    1) set my PS3's IP (192.168.2.0) as trusted,

    2) on the advanced tab set allow ICMP traffic

    3) on the advanced tab un tick stealth mode.

Ive also added a rule on the profile to allow 192.168.2.5 incoming and outgoing (this is the number my ps3 recognised the network as on the PS3's network settings)

This was all a bit of trial an error based on various forums, it seems completely stable now. Hope this helps.
