Win 7 Homegroup Issues

I have two Windows 7 machines (both desktop, hardwired to the LAN). Settings are to "HOME" network.

Bitdefender 2014 installed on both ... and homegroup works great. Can connect into the homegroup and access files, etc.

Now, if the secondary machine (one connecting into the homegroup) does not have BD2014... and with the primary machine (where homegroup was created) still having BD 2014, the second machine cannot access the homegroup files. Homegroup is recognized, but files can't be accessed.

Any help?
