Bit Defender Internet Security 2008
Hi,
I'm trying to add an additional zone i.e. an additional network in the firewall which is not on the same network as my desktop PC. Each time I try to do this I am given the error "The specified address is not from a local network". Does anyone know how I can do this?
I want to allow certain IP's on a different network full access to my desktop.
Thanks

Hello rtp1977,
Try this once you are in the firewall section navigate to the traffic tab press on the add button. Check the apply this rule for all applications. Select protocol any and by select actions trusted now press on the advanced button. By direction select incoming, source address select host now enter the ip-address of the other network computers. You have to create several rules for each different ip-address. Press on ok and add. Afterwards go to the zones section press on the add button and select computer and enter the ip-address select trusted and press on ok.
Best regards

Hi Niels,
Thanks for you reply. I have tried that but unfortunately I still get the same error when trying to add in the computer in the zones section. "The specified address os not from a local network."

Hello rtp1977,
Normally it will be enough if you have created the incoming rules in the traffic section. So all connections that came from that particular ip-address will be allowed. You can give a higher priority to the rules you have created by pressing on the edit profile button. The rules that are on the top have the highest priority.
