Two Entries In My Account Causing Problems

In an effort to locate and remove a trojan that a BitDefender popup keeps telling me I have, I went into safe mode where I hoped to scan for the virus. That's on the suggestion of a friend. In safe mode, BitDefender wouldn't work. Then I noticed the message that my trial had expired or something. I was surprised at that, although I do find that time flies.


Exiting safe mode, I checked to find that I actually still have 304 days left on my bought (online, buy disc was deselected) BitDefender. On the BitDefender website, in the 'my account' section, there are, confusingly, two entries. One shows the true status of my account, as above, and the other shows that my trial has expired.


What gives with this? I want to be able to fully use a product I have paid for. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    To see if BitDefender 2008 is correclty registered you have to start BitDefender once you are in the BitDefender Security Center press on register. There you must find your license key with the remaining days.


    All BitDefender products that you buy came with a 30 day trial key. If you after some days or you directly put in your purchased license key after you create an BitDefender account.. BitDefender will still detect the trial key in your registry together with your purchased key. It is indeed confusing.


    For your problem please make a new topic in the following forum section. When you create a new topic I recommend that you make a log with this program. You can download it here. Double click to install it start HijackThis afterwards if necessary double click on the shortcut on your desktop. Choose for the option Do a system scan and save a logfile.


    Please post also the location where BitDefender found it. To know that for the 2008 products please right click on red BitDefender icon near the system clock press on show after that press on history go to the Antivirus section and double click on the entry when you received the pop-up. Now you will see the location.
