Bd Av Plus 2015: Issue Running Virtualbox Vms
Hello!
After installing Bitdefender Antivirus Plus 2015, Virtualbox VMs won't run anymore:
Failed to open a session for the virtual machine [vmname].
VT-x is being used by another hypervisor. (VERR_VMX_IN_VMX_ROOT_MODE).
VirtualBox can't operate in VMX root mode. Please close all other virtualization programs. (VERR_VMX_IN_VMX_ROOT_MODE).
Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Component: Console
Opsys: Windows 10 (upgraded from Win7).
BD build 18.23.0.1604
What I have tried after searching the net is to add Virtualbox into BD exclusion lists and disabling the Active Virus Control. AVC is turned back on automatically when the BD window is closed. Neither have helped me though. I have also ensured the virtualization is enabled in BIOS and Hyper-V is not running. So the only thing using VT-x is most likely BD.

After I had uninstalled Bitdefender, Virtualbox started to show another error. This took me back to VB forum where some others were also having the same issue after upgrading to Windows 10. And so I reverted back to Windows 7, re-installed Bitdefender and could run all my VMs without any additional configuration in BD whatsoever.
Issue solved. Windows 10, I do not miss you much.0
