Bitdefender Complaint
I just recently purchased BitDefender Internet Security 2008. I had a program I was going to install that was downloaded from the internet. It didn't come from a reputable source and I suspected it may contain a virus. So I scanned it with BitDefender and it said it was clean. So I installed it. Couple of days later my system was becoming unstable so I suspected what I had downloaded had a virus and BitDefender missed it. I did a complete system scan with BitDefender and sure enough I had 9 viruses that weren't there before I installed the program. BitDefender said it was unable to remove the viruses. So I ended up downloading a demo of AVG antivirus and ran a scan with it and it found the 9 viruses and was able to remove all of them. I scanned the file that had originally infected my system and BitDefender said it was clean. Scanned it with AVG and sure enough it contained 9 viruses (trojans, etc). Why would BitDefender not pick up on this and also not be able to disinfect my system? I'm pretty dissapointed with BitDefender I should have purchased AVG. By the way both programs were up to date with the latest definitions.

Did you test the files on http://www.virustotal.com/ ?!
If you have the files in AVG quarantine, pack the files in a zip or rar archive protected by the password infected and attach it here: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showforum=1040 -
Hello kahless,
No antivirus detects all malware. Keep that in mind. What description gave AVG to the infected files? There is always a chance that it could be a false positiv.
Best regards

Hi,
I don't have the files anymore as AVG removed them.
There are 13 of them total I checked AVG's history. Everyone of them was a trojan of a certain kind. None of them were found in the virus encylclopedia on bitdefenders website.0 -

I suggest that you use on-demand malware cleaners, like SuperAntispyware. It's freeware and its very good if you want to remove malware that Bitdefender cant do.

Well as I have posted elsewhere on this forum - I too have had serious problems. I had some issues with V10 with many months still to run on my licence - so BD suggested I would solve the issues by upgrading to BD2008. I did that - but during the upgrade the program chose to switch the fire wall to "Gaming Mode" - it was not something I selected nor was I given the option. However, I was totally unaware that I was unprotected while all the "green lights" were on telling me I was "safe" - Result was 16 Trojans and over 100 pother nasties. YET - a scan run on BitDEfender gave me a 100% clearance. I downloaded 2 other programs and they gave a count result within one virus. Scanned with BD2008 and "clean" result.
I got no proper help from BD. After a week they sent me an unistall link and told me to reinstall BD2008. I did this (but my licence key had disappeared.. hahaha. So I had top load a 30 day trial. I ran another scan - which took 26 hours because by now my system was so sick it was approaching "terminal". The result - No Issues. Hahah -what a laugh.
I paid a technician $180 to clean the system and he recommended and installed AVG.. Good Bye to the " edited Of Bucharest" - they offered me no help and no remedies. Frankly Nilo Customer Service, and reading these pages I see a similar pattern.
