Bitdefender Blocks Wav Files To Be Loaded

I am running Bitdefender Internet security 2008 since a few weeks but now I am encountering some problem while playing wav files from a website.

When I want to play a wav file from on a website the file is loaded into the temporary directory and then played. However since BitDefender real time protection is running the file is not always played. What I see is that in the real time protection tab the file it want to load is set as last file scanned at the statistics. Could it be that this scan causes a delay which internet explorer cannot handle?

A solution that worked was to have the real time protection not scanning wav files. However I do not think this is a good solution.

Any idea what this could be?

Hello Anton Beerens,

This problem might be related with the scan http traffic option. To test please right click on the red BitDefender icon near the system tray press on open advanced settings. Once you are in the antivirus section be sure that the shield tab is highlight press on custom level uncheck scan http traffic press on ok.

Your problem could also be related to that particular website.

Hi Niels,

You are correct! Disabling the HTTP also solves the problem. But I assume this means none of the HTTP traffic is now monitored? Could this harm my computer?

To be honest I do not like it when I have to switch off security items to get my pc running properly. And I also did not have this problem with the trial version installed before, but I did also upgrade to windows service pack 3 so I cannot tell for sure if this is a Bitdefender issue.

BitDefender products are compatible with windows xp service pack 3. Do you have the same problem on all websites? On which website do you have that problem? Sometimes it's better to save a downloaded file. And run it afterwards because sometimes running it immediately instead of saving can cause sometimes problems.

scan http traffic has as purpose that harmfull software,scripts,... are not downloaded on your hard disk more specificly into your temporary internet files. But don't worry otherwise BitDefender realtime protection will block the access to the file once it's on your hard disk.
