Trojan.clicker.cm In Firefox

Every time I start FireFox (both v2 and v3) after a restart, BitDefender displays this warning.

File c:\documents and settings\user\local settings\application data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\bo1lhhru.default\cache.trash\Trash\Cache\0850bd01d01

infected with Trojan.Clicker.CM

BitDefender has blocked this attempt your computer was not affected.

It appears something has attached itself to the Firefox startup process or BD is erroneously detecting some safe activity. I can't find what's causing this. I've tried the following:

Delete cach and other private data in FireFox

Complete scans with BD, SUPERAntiSpyware Finder, Noadware, and ExterminateIt.

Examined the startup files with Startup Inspector and can find nothing amiss.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

  • Hello,

When you deleted Firefox Cache, did you disable BitDefender before? If you try to empty the cache with BD enabled, and there's an infected item in the cache, BD will prevent Firefox from accessing that item, therefore it won't be able to delete it.

So if you haven't tried it yet, follow these steps:

    - open Firefox

    - disable BitDefender

    - clean the cache

    - re-enable BD

    - make a scan to see if the infection is still there

When you scanned with BitDefender, did you get any warnings?

    Cris.
