Bitdefender Total Security 2008
I,m getting ready to purchase a new Laptop/32bit VistaSP1 and my old Desktop/Windows2000Pro has BDIS 10 which needs to be renewed within 4 days. I am concerned after reading all the posts, of problems people are having with the new BD products. BD8,9 and 10 where really excellent products and I have been using and recommending BD for several years, even was a BDv9&10 tester with no major problems(could not hardly wait for final release) . Before that I was using Norton products that did not protect my systems. BD has never left me undefended. I also use the older version of Spyware Doctor spam detector that catches what slips by BD. Spyware Dr came out with a newer version that has caused myself and a lot of other people with major problems when you go back to the older version it all works again. The newer version has been out for around a year and still buggy. Is BitDefender Total Security 2008 in this same class where they're using the customers for testing or it as good as previous versions?

Hello tds,
Different bug reports have been for all BD versions, since it appeared.
So the best way to see if it works without problems is to just test it.
There are many situations in which something might conflict with some other software and cause problems. That's why it's always a good idea to "try before you buy".
Also, BD2009 series is very close to being released as final version (I don't have an exact date). And from what I've tested, it's better than 2008. You can even try one of the BETAs.
Also, because you say you'll have a new computer, it means that you'll be able to use a trial version, for 30 days, free of charge. This period, in my opinion, is plenty of time to see if you like the new version.

Thanks Cris,
I have went from BDIS V10 to BD2008 Total Security on my Desktop(Windows 2000Pro) seems to run smooth, no problems so far. My laptop(Vista) came with Norton360 , 60 day trial, it was preinstalled. I will probably install BD2008 Total Security on the laptop also, if I don't have any problem with it on my desktop. I don't have a very good opinion of Norton products from past experiences.0
