Hi Ivone,
As far as I know, BitDefender will protect you against SPAM messages whatever mail client (eg theBat) you use, as long as you use the default ports for email (POP3 and SMTP... not SSL connections). The problem is that the BD Anti-Spam Bar will appear only in Outlook and Outlook Express. That means that if you use another mail client (eg theBat), you have to configure BS AntiSpam from the BitDefender Management Console -> Antispam.

I have been trough everything 1000 times.
It appears that their is no plugin in BD for thaBat like other antivirus programs (Avast, Kaspersky etc.)
I read that this is the best antivirus and I hope to use it on clean XP install on new PC.
I can' traine theBat if it's not connected to any plugin in BD.0 -
Hi Ivone,
Yes, there isn't any plug-in in BD to support theBat.
That's because BD doesn't need a plug-in. It simply monitors any POP3 and SMPT activity and, when it finds a SPAM/infected message, BD will mark it in the subject as necessarry (with [sPAM], [PISHING] or [iNFECTED]).
Just wait to receive a SPAM message and see if BD works. I believe it will work without any problems, even if you can't see it working.
Another way to see if BD scans your e-mails is to open BitDefender Management Console -> Antispam and look at the section Antispam statistics (lower side of the window). You should see there what BD scanned.
Remember that BD doesn't scan your e-mail if you use Secure connections, or other ports then the default ones (POP3 and SMTP).

Yes, Cris it's working. + -
It does classify spam as spam an marks headers (spam).
That's the good part, the bad site is the spam still comes trough and has to be deleted manually. (kind of silly & useless)
One work around would be to make a rule for (spam) in the header.
If (spam) in the header move it to Junk folder or something like that.
Any other suggestions?
Yes, it's normal POP and SMTP (no fancy setting etc.)
Everything else works fine so far.0 -
Hi Ivone,
That's exactly what you should do: create a rule to move it to junk or delete the mail.
That's exactly how it works with Outlook too. The only difference is that in Outlook you have an Antispam Bar, and the rule to move to Deleted is created automatically.
The reason why the SPAM/Infected/Phishing messagesare not deleted by BD is because they might be legit e-mails. Just make a rule to delete (or move to the Junk Folder) any mail that has [sPAM], [PHISHING] or [iNFECTED] in it's header/subject.
