Downloads At A Snails Pace.....
Just switched from McAfee to BDTS 2008 and my web browsing and downloads seem very slow. Just took 7min for a 18mb dl and 30sec for a 575kb! Can someone please help me with this problem? I really hope I just didn't pay $60 to have my cable connection reduced to a dial-up!
Two other quick questions....
I uninstalled McAfee and then installed BD but, in the windows (Vista) security panel, it says im running both BD and McAfee for FW and AV. Anyone know how to get rid of that?
and
I ran the duplicate file cleaner and it came up with a large amount of dup files and that was just from My Docu/AppData. I dont know if its safe to erase these files or not. I asked tech support and they said that I should review the files myself before deleting. Well im not all that PC savy and I dont have time to copy/paste every file into Google and see what it is. I kinda bought BD expecting it to take care of these things that I dont know about but, it looks like I might have paid for a program that comes up with ways to waste my day talking to tech support and trolling forums for help.

Hello ToDieFor,
Please follow the instructions in this topic. To be sure that everything from mcafee is removed, you need to run the removal tool also. Reboot your pc afterwards. I also recommend that you uninstall BitDefender by using this tool. First right click on the red BitDefender icon near the system tray press on exit. Now double click on the uninstall tool to run it. You will be asked to reboot do so. After the reboot install BitDefender again. This is to be sure that there aren't any leftovers off Mcafee that could cause conflicts.
Some good advice for using any duplicate finder tool is do not let it scan your entire hard disk or partition. The only thing that duplicate finder tools do is searching for files, documents with the same name. Many software uses similar files if you let a duplicate finder tool remove one off them that software might stop working. To solve that you need to add only folders to let the duplicate finder tool run on not the entire hard disk or partition. It's safe to add the my documents folder.
Kind regards,
