Bitdefender Blocks Network Printer

I have just installed BitDefender on one Vista machine and discovered I cannot print or scan from the (multifunctional) printer. The printer is on the network and as it's own IP address.

How do I make sure I can keep using it?

What version of BD do you have ?

Is SP1 installed on Vista ?

  • Having the same issue.

Bitdefender Internet security 2009 with Vista SP1.

  • I fixed it! :P I probably didn't do it the right way but it worked.

You have to change the Spoolsv.exe rule to "Allow".

I went a step further and went to the Advanced tab and entered the IP for the printer in the "Local" ports.

    Good Luck

Martin Cleaver, follow rlaver's instructions :)

    Good Job !

  • I'm having a similar problem - i.e., can't print to a network printer, but running on XP pro SP 2. The wireless network is setup on an airport extreme to which I wireless connect. There are moments when the firewall goes off (I don't understand that either) and the printer prints. So, sometimes I'll get a print job hours later. I'd try following the instructions above, but I don't know where to find the spoolsv thing to change the rule.

I wish I could... but BD doesn't want to open. OI can open basic settings (and turn off the firewall, but that's all. "Show" does nothing.
