So How Does This Happen?
So here I was working away on my computer, BitDefender 2008 doing it's thing when I see
my "updates available" shield come on. I click to see what it is; Microsoft update for Power
Point 2003. I click on update and proceed to work.
Within minutes I start getting banner ad's popping out of no where and every where, some
with a.dult content. I wonder what's going on and click onto BitDefender to check my
settings.
Guess what I saw...all my settings were off and gone! My File Zone and Net Zone icons
were working fine, no alerts from BitDefender that anything was wrong.
Tried to reset my settings, couldn't, nothing happened, no responses. Meanwhile I'm
getting garbage about AntiVirus Master and CleanUp/Driver etc. continously popping up and
without doing anything I notice it's loading into my computer as if I pressed install or
continue.
I got screwed big time. Ran BitDefender scan and found hundreds of virus and bugs. Most
all have been removed with the exception of Application.DriveClener.M and 2
Trojan.Vundo.FJD's. I'm still waiting on a response from BitDefender on how to get rid of
them. It's been since yesterday and I still don't have any response.
My question; how did these come through while BitDefender was running? Why didn't I get
any alerts while my updates were being loaded? Why doesn't BitDefender have any
removal tools available for these particular bugs?
Truthfully I'm a bit disappointed with BitDefender at the moment. I'm just lucky to have
a desktop I can work off at the moment while I STILL wait for a response from BitDefender.
My friends are asking me why I'm using BitDefender if it's not protecting me from these
kinds of things happening?
My desktop had a problem when I updated JAVA several weeks ago. Once the update
was complete, BitDefender no longer worked. I had to reinstall it after my Java update.
When I was on a Chat with BitDefender, I got no answers to any of my questions as to
how or why this would happen.
So to kill time while I still wait for my response, I decided to vent on this forum.
