Quick Scan Schedule / Options?

Newbie here ...
Quick Scan runs automatically on start up, which severely impacts system usability. And Quick Scan isn't very quick ... it takes about a half-hour, which means my system can't be used during that time.
I run a full custom scan on shut down each day. I'd prefer to disable Quick Scan on start up or at least figure out how to speed this up.
Can anyone offer any ideas?
Also ... I'm running 64-bit Win10 Pro on an Intel Processor running at 2.6Ghz and 16GB of RAM. This should be way faster I would think?
