I can no longer download anything because of Bitdefender

I used to be able to attach my camera to the Mac and download images from my Nikon camera to the computer via ViewNX-i and Nikon Transfer 2. No longer. Every time I try to download images from the camera's memory card, I get the message: "Transfer failed because you do not have access privileges." This never happened before, but I cannot download anything now. I cannot even save PDF's to my folders on my Mac. What is going on here? If this is resolved, I am abandoning Bitdefender for good and finding another software solution. A program that makes one's own computer unusable is itself unusable and will not be tolerated.
