Can't install Total Security due to Kaspersky

I have uninstalled Kaspersky AV prior to installing Total Security, but I keep getting an error message from Windows installer saying that I can't uninstall the program because it doesn't exist. Seems like Bitdefender is finding some remnant files and not allowing the installation. Is there a solution to this. I've already went on a wild goose chase looking for any remaining files and spent hours doing so. Yet I still have no anti virus protection that I dearly need.

Thanks

  • The actual error message I get reads as follows.

    From Windows Installer

This action is only valid for products that are currently installed.

This shows up when installing the AV and it finds Kaspersky and I click on the uninstall link.
