Migrate from Avira to Bitdefender

I have just purchased Bitdefender antivirus total security.

I have Avira antivirus installed on my windows 10 laptop.

What are the steps I need to take to migrate from Avira to Bitdefender, without putting my laptop at risk?

    Uninstall Avira first.

    I heard Bitdefender was buying Avira. not sure if its true.
