Bitdefender is hogging all of the CPU power and RAM on my computer and rendered it useless.

It takes 60 percent of my CPU just to run the desktop, with no apps loaded. Bdservicehost seems to be the big user. I have tried turning off Bitdefender and even uninstalled it. No luck. This seems to be a common issue on the discussion board, but I haven't found anyone with the answer. I'm ready to switch to something else.

  • If you uninstalled Bitdefender and any process shows as Bitdefender still active it appears the uninstall didn't perform properly. What did you use to uninstall? The steps provided to uninstall are;

    1. Click Start and go to Control Panel.
    2. Click Uninstall a program or Programs and Features.
    3. Select the name of your Bitdefender security product (Bitdefender Total Security, Bitdefender Internet Security, or Bitdefender Antivirus Plus), then click the Uninstall button at the top of the list.

    The program doesn't have a built-in uninstaller to my knowledge.

    If the uninstall process fails and Bitdefender cannot be removed, download and run the uninstall tool corresponding to your Bitdefender version from this location.

    Stay safe.
