Why does Special Offers and Recommendation notifications get reactivated after update?

I purchased Bitdefender Total Security for 10 devices in May of 2021. Since then, I've been forced to turn off the Special Offers and Recommendation notifications every time I reinstall the software (which has been every 2 months) and about once a month after an update. I also get constantly reminded that I'm not using the VPN, Identity Protection, and Chrome extensions.

How do I turn these things off and never see them again?

If I am not satisfied with the answer, I will be looking for a replacement. I didn't buy a virus protection software so I could be nagged to buy/install other products. If I was willing to put up with that, I would have stuck with one of the many free options.

  • If you are wondering about the repeated reinstalls, it's because the Bitdefender Service will start utilizing 100% of the processor on the computer, and the only way to stop it is to uninstall, reboot, then reinstall.

This also requires me to uninstall the VPN, Chrome Extensions, and other crap that I would not install in the first place if I had the option to choose what is installed and what isn't.

I have other security tools on my network, and monitor and protect at the network level, and they work wonderfully.

Bitdefender VPN is just me sharing my internet usage with Bitdefender instead of my ISP. I don't see the point.

  • Hello @EaglesFlight,

The special offers and recommendation notifications should not reactivate after each update. Normally, the customized user preferences are kept. Please get in touch with our Support Teams, as logs might be required from you, to get to the bottom of this.
