Problem With Bitdefender Detection Almost Bricked My Windows Installation
This is more of a suggestion to the Bitdefender team than a discussion because a false detection almost bricked my device I was using a program called Winaero Tweaker basically a program to tweak dozens of options for fine-grained tuning of various Windows settings and features I was browsing a couple of items then when I clicked one to change some option suddenly Bitdefender detection an "Infection" I thought to myself that it may be false detected Winaero but no when I checked my notifications it quarantined a important system DLL file called "imageres.dll.mun" in C:Windows\SystemResources when it did Windows Explorer and Windows itself started to get unstable for the usage of "imageres.dll.mun" it is a "Windows Image Resource" written BY Microsoft and part of the Windows infrastructure and basically an icon library for files, folder, and etc so basically my entire system was unresponsive so I had to restart my PC when I did, icons for my desktop and the entire system itself files and folder included were mixed up with completely different Icons and windows explorer was not even displaying properly the icons were just black boxes I tried to run "sfc /scannow" command in command prompt nope nothing happened and I tried opening system restore point nope it said "failed to detect system restore points" and I tried putting back the DLL file back to proper place but it said "Counldn't Get Proper Permissions" in the quarentine files in Bitdefender I tried doing it manually with antivirus and advanced threat defense turned off nope still said "Requires permissions from {Host System Deivce Name}" I tired giving myself permissions through cmd and changing it's file properties and still no I had to go to Settings>Update & Security>Recover and do the restore point there because it was the only program working properly and thank god I had a restore point from yesterday because I turned on automatic restore point making and when I restarted it finally fixed my problem, to the Bitdender team please fix this or create an exception to "imageres.dll.mun" or "imageres.dl".

Hello @Quasaaa_ and welcome to the Community!
I am very sorry to hear this. I would recommend you to report this detection to our Labs, using the form below. This way, we can prevent this from happening to other users as well, in the future. We strive to reduce false-positive reports to a minimum. However, Bitdefender may on occasion mistakenly flag a safe website or a legitimate file as a false positive threat. Once the file is submitted to the Labs, if it passes the checks, the detection is removed.
Kindly access the link below and follow the steps to submit your findings:
Best regards.
